UDG Welcome Event for New Students - Fully Booked!

A warm invitation is extended to this special welcome event for all new students beginning Urban Design (and related built environment) courses in London. Come along to The Gallery at 70 Cowcross Street (Farringdon) to meet the Urban Design Group and hear from young professionals about what it is really like to work in urban design, before a guided walk through EC1 ending in Kings Cross for a tour of the development, drinks and networking.

- Welcome to the UDG from Chair Paul Reynolds

- What are the options open to a new urban design graduate? (plus an introduction to Cabe @ Design Council)- Leo Hammond, Senior Design Advisor at Cabe

- Working in Urban Design - An insight from young professionals working in different roles within the public and private sectors:

  • Katy Neaves, Head of Visual Impact Assessments, Turley Associates
  • Katja Stille, Associate, Tibbalds, Planning & Urban Design
  • Peter Kelly, Urban Designer, London Borough of Camden

- How to enhance your urban design skills using the Urban Design Skills Portal (UCL) - Valentina Giordano, Urban Designer/Researcher at The Bartlett School of Planning

4:00 - Walk through EC1 towards King's Cross. On route we will view the regeneration, parks and public realm improvement schemes - led by Liz Kessler (former Public Space Co-ordinator atEC1 New Deal for Communities)

5:00 - Arrive at Kings Cross for presentation from John McAslan & Partners followed by walk around the development

6:30 - Drinks in Parcel Yard Pub at Kings Cross Station.

Open toany student enrolled on a course relating to towns or cities (urban design, planning, sustainability, urban engineering, landscape, regeneration etc)
